Rohls, Jan
Comenius, Lichtmetaphysik und Wissenschaftsreform

The article interprets the idea of an universal science brought forward by Johann Amos Comenius in the first half of the 17th century. It shows, how this idea was influenced by his philosophical and theological teacher Alsted at the reformed university of Herborn and formulated as against other contemporary encyclopedi-cal ideas like that of Bacon. Comenius' pansophical programm of scientific reform has a much stronger theological background, and this was the reason, why he didn't accept the concept of science propagated by the Royal Society.
