"Ethical theology" cannot be understood as an opposing concept to "dogmatic theology" nor as a special discipline within systematic theology. On the contrary, this concept means a certain style of thinking which covers the specific subdivisions of systematic theology. Its proper task is to elaborate on theological subjects by means of an understanding of the human action situation. Against this backdrop, the article explores fundamental categories of such an understanding.
