Protestant theology has always emphasized that church and pastoral communication mainly deal with words. However, as electronic media have become so important, the theory of church communication and the pastoral role in it will also have to develop, in interaction with today's communication and media studies, a clearer description of the communication beyond talking to each other face to face.
