In the First Testament, the book of Ezekiel tells stories about extreme bodily experiences of violence and harm in connection with the siege, capture and destruction of Jerusalem in 589/8-587/6 B.C.E. Focusing on chapters 1-5, 16, 37, and 47, the present contribution traces some of these bodily experiences and integrates them into the interpretation of whole of the book, which can also be understood as a traumatic engagement with the events of war at the beginning of the 6th ct. B.C.E.
