Die Hoffnung der Erde die ökologische Wende der christlichen Theologie und der christlichen Spiritualität
Zeitschriftenartikel

The concept of humanity and the relationship of the modern world towards nature were formerly determined by the idea that 'man' is situated at its center while governing nature and its forces. It was backed by a theology which unilaterally emphasized the relationship between god and man. Such an approach became questionable because of the ecological crisis. This essay presents a new ecological theology that shall accompany the transition into a postmodern, ecological era. A basic shift of paradigm is needed: from man as "center of the world" to a cosmic integration of humanity, from the arrogance of global dominion to cosmic humbleness, from a distinction between god and world to a mutual participation of a "world in god" and "god in the world". Hence, Christian spirituality is no longer informed by the idea of "god and the soul", hut opens itself towards "god and sensuality".
