This article is concerned with defining the relationship between the concept of the soul and the debate on digitalisation. It shows the connection between the current importance of the concept of the soul in public debates and the late-modern dynamics of digital society. The profound permeation of society's digitalization technology is outlined on the basis of theories of digitality by Felix Stalder, Armin Nassehi and Alexander Hepp. The socio-psychological consequences of this development are reflected on the grounds of social theories of Hartmut Rosa and Andreas Reckwitz. Against this background, the soul is sketched out as an anthro-pological concept corresponding to the concept of God, which is able to address the issue of the dignity of the human being beyond social claims of singularisation.
