Familie, Ehebruch, Ehescheidung und neue Beziehungen in der Jesusbewegung Überlegungen zur (Nicht-)Aktualität frühchristlicher Überlieferungen
Zeitschriftenartikel

The paper attempts to reconstruct the attitude towards marriage and family in the Jesus movement on the basis of the extant New Testament texts. It shows a devaluation of the physical family in favor of the "true" family in Jesus' discipleship, to which both men and women were invited. In addition to these family critical logia, there are also logia against marriage, in which remarriage after a separation is sanctioned. These traditions are predominantly formulated from the husband's point of view: the wife is regarded as the quasi-permanent possession of her husband even after divorce. The existence of both clusters of traditions next to each other leads to the question of how they can be related to each other in terms of content, which seems most likely in the context of an imminent expectation of the Kingdom of God. The paper concludes with reflections on the fact that the changed social situation today makes a simple transfer of the ethical instructions from antiquity problematic.
