In vol. 6 of his "Studium Systematische Theology", titled "Geist", Gunther Wenz reconstructs the "development of doctrine in the Ancient Church" as "pneumatological process". The paper explores why and how the historical process of theological reflection, culminating in the Trinitarian and christological dogmas of Constantinople and Chalcedon, can be understood as an indirect self-relevation of the Spirit itself. It also scrutinises Wenz's emphasis on the Spirit's relevance for the Church. Moreovet, it enquires how the question of the Spirit's identity can be dealt with in dogmatic Pneumatology.
