Leonhardt, Rochus
Christliche Identität in postsäkularer Zeit die Rückkehr der Religion im Spiegel neuerer Einführungen in den christlichen Glauben
Zeitschriftenartikel

The article contains reviews of 14 recent introductions into Christian faith, which follow different concepts and originated in different confessional contexts. The author connects the understanding of the Christian faith expressed in the examined texts with contemporary debates about the return of religion and names two recognizable pillars of Christian self-conception which can also be found in the examined texts: a claim to be the defining cultural standard and the understanding of the individual. The interest in a social relevance of (Christian) religion based on inner-Christian ecumenism and interreligious dialogue is interpreted as a transformed version of a conventional claim to be the defining cultural standard; the understanding of faith as a form of interpreting human life focuses on the wish of the individual to find orientation points in life and is, simultaneously, detrimental to ecumenism and beneficial for pluralism.
