The of national legal systems does not stop at the Law on Churches and Religion. For a long time, one was afraid that the European Law could put into question the traditional assets of German Law. Such scenarios proved to be unrealistic. The effects of the European Law on the German religious law are manageable; drastic steps or disruptions did not occur. This "protection" of the Law on Churches and Religion was not accidental but is also due to central legal instruments of die European network of legislation. This article presents them and integrates their effects and perspectives into the general discussion about the future of the project of European integration.
