Das Zwölfprophetenbuch als redaktionelle Großeinheit
Zeitschriftenartikel

The article presents those hypotheses in recent research on the Book of the Twelve Prophets that have proven to be especially promising for future research. The first part describes the structure of the final text with respect to the beginnings of the writings, their order and the thematic threads. Especially noteworthy are the concept of the Day of YHWH and the description of God's mercy in Ex 34:6-7. The second part focuses on three redactional phases of the book: the D-Corpus (Hos, Am, Mic, Zeph), the layer that includes Joel and Zech 14, and die final layer that added Jonah and Malachi. In every case die extent, the intentions and the historical setting of the layers are described. The third part discusses some consequences for a biblical-theological understanding of this prophetic book. The idea that twelve independent writings belong together as parts of a chain that does not establish a closed system, but instead illustrates the bipolar character of God's essence in a way that leads the reader's search for hope in a trustworthy direction, could be a model for inter-religious dialogue.
