The article examines Paul's concept of the Holy Spirit from a cognitive scientific perspective. For Paul, the Spirit was part of his perception of reality and foundational belief, drawing from Hellenistic-Jewish tradition. Cognitive models explain the brain's construction of reality through probabilistic predictions, influenced by concepts. Paul associated the Spirit with experiences in the Corinthian community, which can be cognitively explained by predictive errors and cultural influence. Ritual experiences in the group strengthened the interpretation as pneumatic through emotional learning processes and created a communal identity. Paul's thinking may have also adapted to early formative experiences.
