Der Körper Gottes und der Körper Jesu im Neuen Testament
Zeitschriftenartikel

The essay discusses the depiction of the body of God and of Jesus Christ in the NT. The body concepts are scrutinized through an analysis of the occurrences and presentation of individual body parts. This is an approach that biblical scholarship has employed primarily to conceptualize the body of God in the Hebrew Bible. Comparing the results from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament yields the insight that the New Testament presents God less in corporeal terms than the Hebrew Bible. This is different regarding the body of Jesus, whose parts are frequently mentioned in the NT. Especially Jesus' feet, his blood and bowels/mercy are mentioned frequently. Regarding the latter, it looks as if Jesus adopted body characteristics from God who at the same time becomes more transcendent.
