Der Römerbrief in ökumenischer Perspektive zum theologischen Werk von Eduard Lohse
Zeitschriftenartikel

The interpretation of Romans formed a quintessential part of the theological and exegetical work of Eduard Lohse (1924-2015). The essay begins by associating Paul's predications on justification with recent ecumenical advancements and their biblical foundations (see the "Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification"). Thereafter, it highlights the ancient contexts and origins of Paul's theology. This leads to the question of faith and history as a core problem for biblical theology and hermeneutics, an issue which is developed in the third part of the essay with regard to Paul's predications on Israel in Romans. Israel in a biblical sense appears as an ecumenical horizon for Paul's ecclesiology.
