Welker, Michael
Der schöpferische Geist, Kreativität und Neues in Gott
Zeitschriftenartikel

The article sets out with the question why metaphysical and speculative notions of God which object to claims that there is novelty for God and even novelty in God, have been very attractive. It then offers a critique of misleading concepts of divine omnipotence and of an underestimation of the divinely given freedom and power of creation with all its consequences. It argues that God unfolds the divine creativity, life and revelation, and in this process generates newness and novelty out of his inner depths. Thus God sustains, guides, judges, saves and ennobles his creation. The article unfolds this rich generation of novelty and newness with respect to the creative work of the Spirit of God, the revelation in Jesus Christ and the outpouring of the gifts and powers of the Spirit in the present, future and eternal reign of God.
