Neu Die Apostelgeschichte im Kontext der hellenistisch-römischen Literatur interdisziplinäre Annäherungen
Zeitschriftenartikel

Recent research on Acts finds itself at a point where vigorous discussion between exegetes, historians, and classicists ceased with the rise of form criticism almost a century ago. Problems of historical reference as well as the religio-historical framework of the book are reconsidered under the premises of New Historicism and Post-structuralism. The exegetical, the historical, and the philological sides counterbalance their conventional shortcomings: "kerygma" is no unique feature of early Christian tradition but its significant form of constructive tendency. In contrast, recent research on ancient sources gives more weight to the intentionality and perspectival nature of texts and develops broader interest in narrative self-conceptualization and subversive counter-definitions of marginal strata within Greco-Roman societies. As a cross-cultural narrative, the Book of Acts may itself inspire cross-cultural research.
