On the one hand, theology includes insights into what processes of education including self-development and efforts to support it actually mean. On the other hand, (religious) education itself leads to a transformation of the religion. When religious socialization through family and neighborhood lose of their weight, institutionalized processes of learning play a more important role than they used to.
