The author looks at several concepts. (M. Luther, H. Diem, H. Ph. Meyer) and the current discussion in practical theology as well as the theory and the practice of bishops. Sermons as a means of guidance for the church have to represent the church; they need to be public, visitational and address the listeners as the church.
