The article recollects the life and the work of this Practical Thelogian, who bridged the gap between Lutheran theology an liberal theology. After die Second World War he taught Systematics theology for eight years. As a Practical Theologian he was an appreciated teacher of homiletics an a preacher, who had a profound knowledge of literature and poetry. Since his move from Halle to Göttingen in 1954 he also bridges the gap between East and West German theologians.
