A further acceleration and merkantalization of time in postmodernity has effects on biological and cultural rhythms, and also on the plausibility of the church year. The article shows how pastoral work can relate to daily rhythms in the family, the weekly and monthly rhythms of the congregation, the annual rhythms of public life, and to the individuals in their life cycles.
