Mit der Digitalisierung waren ursprünglich Hoffnungsperspektiven verbunden, die auf der Beteiligung aller Menschen an der Wissensgesellschaft gründen. Diese Beteiligung hat Schattenseiten in Filterblasen sozialer Medien, deren gesellschaftliche Konsequenzen besonders in der Pandemie spürbar werden. Ein Rückgriff auf den Begriff der Kontingenz kann theologischem und religionspädagogischem Handeln analytische Werkzeuge geben, um in der Situation multipler Realitätskonstruktionen gesellschaftliche Kohärenz zu fördern.
Digitalization was supposed to give every human access to all the knowledge of humanity and enable people to participate in the knowledge society. This participation now shows its downsides in the filter bubbles of social media. During the pandemic, the social consequences of such bubbles are particularly noticeable. An academic recourse to the concept of contingency can equip theology and religious education with analytical tools to promote social coherence in the current situation of multiple constructions of reality.
