This essay focuses on the reformatory understanding of both marriage and maleness. The public performance of priestly marriages served to establish a new ideal. The recognition and reassessment of marriage goes hand in hand with a limited recognition of male sexuality. This does not only mean a marginal but a fundamental change, illustrating the worldliness of the new faith.
