Marriage and families have always existed in a variety of forms. But never before has there been so much scope of people to make personal choices about their way of life as there is in our society today. As a result individual people are forced to take decisions for which they alone must take responsibility. Ethics, however, can provide help in reaching. those decisions. The article describes a number of standards that ought to be observed when planning a marriage or a family, the aim being to accommodate differeing interests and goals in life, and to safeguard personal dignity.
