The article gives an overview on this church-subsidised specific university chaplaincy in 132 locations in Germany, the conditions under which it occurs, and on the programmes and the work with the students. These congregations are an example for the other recently discussed type of "profile church" as distinguished from the predominant type of parochial churches.
