The question in the title, whether Holocaust Education is a topic for teacher education, gives an indication of the remarkable state of affairs that it is not one for prospective teachers. In this article, we want to provide a rationale for the necessity of Holocaust Education in teacher education on the one hand, and on the other hand, we want to show the desiderata why this has not yet been able to gain a foothold. In addition to structural and didactic reasons, we will address an aspect that has not yet been taken into account: Epistemological beliefs of prospective teachers. They seem to be the pivotal point for why the structural frameworks mentioned above cannot be changed on their own.
