The article looks in detail how biblical language is notably used to a large extent, and very close description of the faith of some protagonist can be found in Johnson's works. This can be interpreted in relation to the tension between two elements in the writer's biography: on the one hand his Christian experiences in his childhood and early youth, on the other hand his explicit renunciation of Christianity in adult life.
