Since the 1960, religious education tries to communicate with pedagogic science, but not successfully. The reflection about these issues demands impulses which could be drawn from the theological discussion of the Reformation and could result in to a new comprehension of education. Nevertheless, the works of Ulrich Zwingli, Philipp Melanchthon and Martin Luther emphasize that the crisis of the education system in the Middle-Age can be just overcome by focusing on a subjective view but also on central theological thoughts which are able to determine the relations between philosophy and theology and therefore, the relation of pedagogic science and religious education.
