Neu Jenseits des Personalismus Maschinenethik als theologische Herausforderung
Zeitschriftenartikel

Probably the most recently established field in Applied Ethics, Machine Ethics deals with questions regarding the moral implications of artificial intelligence. Researchers active in this field try to find an ethical code which could be implemented in 'moral machines'. Since Machine Ethics is often associated with Posthumanism, it amounts to a critique of the anthropological foundations of Ethics. In this paper I want to show how this critique is of eminent importance especially for Theological Ethics. More specifically, my aim is to warn against attempts of formalizing Theological Ethics in order to make them computable. In concluding my paper, I favor a more relaxed view on Machine Ethics, which suggests neither to abrogate the anthropological foundations of Theological Ethics nor to ignore the ethical significance of artificial intelligence.
