The article reflects on a growing new tendency to celebrate the silver and golden wedding in church. Referring to the theory of Church rites the involved logics of the justification of biography, the sanctification of the whole person and the sacralization of life events are discussed. Different practices - a family service in the church, a special public service for anniversary couples, and an integration in the regular Sunday service - can be observed.
