Der Beitrag geht davon aus, dass die grundlegende Ambiguität, d.h. die Vielstimmigkeit, Widersprüchlichkeit und Mehrdeutigkeit der Bibel von entscheidender Bedeutung für die Funktion des Texts ist, Lernprozesse anzustoßen, Weltbilder herauszufordern und Konstruktionen von Identität zu begleiten. Er setzt auf zwei Ebenen an, einerseits der Ambiguität wichtiger Charaktere der Bibel, hier des Nikodemus, einer Figur des Johannesevangeliums, aber auch des "erzählten Gottes" im Markusevangelium, andererseits der Ambiguität der Apokalypse des Johannes in Bezug auf die alles entscheidende Frage: Wer kommt in die Heilige Stadt, das himmlische Jerusalem? Das Zueinander der verschiedenen, Leser*innen verstrickenden Perspektiven im vielstimmigen Text wirft Fragen auf, die letztlich unbeantwortbar bleiben, gerade dadurch aber zur lebenslangen Aufgabe der Leser*innen werden.
The article begins with the assumption that the fundamental ambiguity, i.e. the polyphony, contradictoriness, and ambiguity of the Bible is of crucial importance for the text's function of initiating learning processes, challenging world views, and accompanying constructions of identity. It starts on two levels, on the one hand the ambiguity of important characters of the Bible, here of Nicodemus, a figure of John's Gospel, but also of the "narrated God" in the Gospel of Mark. On the other hand, it discusses the overall ambiguity of the Book of Revelation in relation to the all-important question: Who will enter the Holy City, the heavenly Jerusalem? The juxtaposition of the different perspectives in the polyphonic text, which entangle the readers, raises questions that ultimately remain unanswerable, but precisely because of this become the matter of a lifelong task.
