Praktische Theologie eine Standortbestimmung
Zeitschriftenartikel

After a period of consolidation Practical Theology is in a process of change. Two new approaches are presented and discussed here: the teamwork of Wolf-Dieter Falling and Hans-Günter Heimbrock "Gelebte Religion wahrnehmen" (Perceiving Living Religion), and a survey of papers read at the Graduiertenkolleg in Marburg about "Religion in der Lebenswelt der Moderne" (Religion in the Modern Life). This essay considers the use of history as a way of understanding, the problems facing Practical Theology today. They are connected with the discoveries of recent sociological analysis. Thus "religion" understood here in its widest sense is open to new phenomena outside the institutional churches. The plea for Practical Theology's cooperation with other disciplines has to be supported. However, to leave out theology and the institutional churches runs the risk of loosing the theology inherent in Practical Theology. Practical Theology will change in this way into religious science.
