With the electoral success of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD, Alternative for Germany) a right­wing populist movement finally moved into the German federal parliament. Despite the clear anti-populist position of the churches, voters and followers of the AfD can be found also among Christians. But how is the prevalence of right-wing populist attitudes among them? And how are these attitudes connected with religious beliefs? With data from different surveys the authors show, that among Christians attitudes concerning the admission of refugees do not differ very much from the general population, but religious exclusivity tends to go along with right-wing populist attitudes whereas religious inclusivity shows the opposite connection. However, it also can be shown, that there is a lot of ambivalence.
