Leonhardt, Rochus
Reformation und Recht zum protestantischen Erbe in der gegenwärtigen Rechtswirklichkeit
Zeitschriftenartikel

To approach to the question of the Protestant heritage of today's legal culture, the article first applies to the position of Luther, who discussed the relationship between religion, law and politics at quite different levels. On second place, the present text examines the influence of the Reformation on the legal history development in Western Europe, especially in Germany. In this way, it is possible to expose the historical roots of the >limping< separation of state and religion, which is typical for the situation in the Federal Republic of Germany until today. The third section contains reflections on the sustainability, or rather future viability of the current relationship between state and religion in Germany. These considerations are necessary because the religious situation has changed a lot, especially in the last 100 years.
