Religionswissenschaften interkulturell die gegensätzliche Wahrnehmung der Religionsphänomenologie in Brasilien und Deutschland
Zeitschriftenartikel

This essay was written during a research semester in Brazil. It deals with the controversial estimation of the phenomenology of religion by religious studies in die "North" and the "South" and analyses the reasons and intentions of the respective positions. First, the largely critical assessment of phenomenology of religion in Germany is described, then die great expectations of religious studies in Brazil concerning this topic. One reason for this expectation is the intention to establish their own subject - religious studies - through die medium of phenomenology of religion as an autonomous academic discipline. One last passage deals with the common ground of religious studies in Brazil and Germany despite their differences. Most striking is the insight, that research here and there has different preconditions. So the ideal of a positivistic science is questioned. Insofar, die comparison between Brazil and Germany might encourage a more profound discussion of methods.
