The article asks how to describe the expectations of science of religions, with its inherent claim of confessional independence, towards contemporary theology. It addresses the obvious positioning of both academic subjects towards each other and their mutual interdisciplinary exchange. It furthermore probes the question of how to integrate theological statements in a survey of Christianity from the perspective of science of religion.
