The author reflects critically on the relationship between illness and guilt in the context of predictive medicine. Analysing the key paradigms prevention and the role of risk, she makes it clear that the responsibility of the 'healthy sick person' needs to go beyond the use of the established means of prevention. Taking into account what Descartes writes about provisional moral, she presents a fresh approach to dealing with ethical dilemmas surrounding predictive medicine. In particular, she recommends the category of vulnerability as a corrective to alternative dealings with individual medicine.
