The story of the healing of the paralytic in the Gospel according to Mark is taken to call attention to the challenges of inclusive homiletics. When a sermon on this text of healing sets out not to exclude the perspective of a person suffering from incurable paralysis a productive tension becomes apparent which should not easily be dissolved.
