Technologischer Fortschritt und Ethik - ein Widerspruch?
Zeitschriftenartikel

Fifty years ago, the philosopher Walter Schulz claimed that ethical issues are not playing a decisive role in contemporary philosophy. In the meantime, the general opinion has changed significantly. Today, the call for ethics is omnipresent. Since the nature of modern technology determines modern science in all its disciplines, the debate about ethics in the sciences also focuses mainly on questions concerning ethics of technology. However, this debate is itself influenced by technology, as it mostly focuses on questions of technology assessment. The ethical search for pragmatic solutions to technological problems and conflicts is itself largely characterized by a technical rationality. What is needed, on the other hand, is a deeper understanding of an ethics of technology that responds to fundamental questions about the image of humankind and the relationship between humans and nature.
