Neu Tiere im Wahrnehmungshorizont von Seelsorge Überlegungen anhand aktueller Vollzüge von gelebter Religion
Zeitschriftenartikel

People are increasingly looking for contact with nature. Hence, it is justified to generally speak of a natural boom. On the one hand, this tendency can be observed within society as a whole; on the other hand, one can detect it in the manifestations of lived religion, and not least in ecclesiastical practice. An exposed role is assigned to animals, which can be regarded as a representative of natural space. This focus reflects the phenomenon that animals can touch people's emotions in a specific way. In Practical Theology these developments and needs have received merely scant attention so far. It is therefore necessary to ask which role animals can play within the framework of pastoral care and how such a sensitization can lead to a practical theological reflection of current ecclesiastical practices such as services for animal blessings and Christian animal burials.
