Neu Trans-Körper Theologie im Gespräch mit Transhumanismus und Transsexualität

Invasive body modifications very clearly indicate the body's potential for transition, proving that the body is not merely a cage! Transhumanism and transsexuality, and their corresponding focus on the body, connect the desire for happiness and extension of meaning with the physical body. Only in a harsh dualism can happiness, mind, and selfhood be dismissed as something that has nothing to do with the body. The portrayal of the self is unable to manage without having to rely on the body. Consciously or involuntarily, the body in its carnality is set the task of composition. This regularly takes shape in the form of transitions, be they sanctioned or not commonly accepted. Even religions bring the trans body into existence in various ways, if the body is dismantled through asceticism, abstinence, prayer, exorcism, trances, curing, etc. and is experienced or understood either internally or externally as new or different. To this extent, a positive dialogue between theology, transhumanism, and transsexuality seems to be possible and shall be discussed here through simultaneous camparisons of their respective potential for transition.
