Humans are - according to the lawyer and philosopher Wolfgang Schapp - entrapped in stories that are about humans entrapped in stories. Therefore stories of old times become part of the present in which the reader or listener lives. Storytellers and poets know this; and a sermon becomes fascinating when the biblical stories about God entrap the listeners and become their present.
