The idea of a divine judgment is a fundamental and self-evident aspect of New Testament eschatology. This is also true for Paul, one of the great theologians of the early times, as the statement from the Epistle to the Romans quoted in the title of the paper shows. But what does this mean concretely for Paul? The paper examines the Pauline statements on this topic and elaborates the distinctive profile of this topos in the overall context of Paul's doctrine of justification.
