Neu Zwischen Alarmismus und Verharmlosung Pornographie als Thema der evangelischen Ethik
Zeitschriftenartikel

Although pornography is regularly used by the majority of people, in Christian ethics there is no debate about the usage of porn, at least no balanced one. However, the phenomena that are considered pornographic are rather heterogeneous: Whether it is child or adult pornography, violent or non-violent pornography, amateur or professional pornography that are the matter of ethical reflection makes a huge difference. But not only is the subject matter that is depicted in porn versatile, the conditions for producing porn range from the highly professionalised porn industry to criminal backyard productions. Moreover, pornography does not only affect those who produce it but also those who watch it. Extensive research on the impact of the consumption of pornography on human perceptions, emotions and actions has outlined some risks associated with frequent consumption of pornography. In addition to all these aspects, this article considers from a Christian point of view whether sexuality necessarily requires a sphere of intimacy, a sphere that is inherently taken away by porn.
